yoni steaming + herbal guide

There is a ritual that every woman deserves to experience; for some it will be discovered early in life + for others, a little further along the dusty trail. Regardless of when yoni steaming makes it's way into your realm of possibility: trust that it will find you in perfect, divine timing.

The warm waters are waiting to initiate you, deeper into your feminine; without force, effort or analyzing. This is our church. This is where we worship the Goddess that yearns to taste life through the body of a woman.

You are that woman.

A delicious life is not stumbled upon; it is consciously created through humble acts of devotion.

What does devotion mean to you? Have you ever looked in the mirror and recognized what you see as an embodiment of the Divine Goddess? What is calling you to this ritual at this point in time?

^^ These are all thought-provoking questions to reflect on and journal about before your first yoni steam.

WHEN IS IT SAFE TO YONI STEAM?

Yoni steaming is best practiced when a woman is in her follicular, ovulation or luteal phase of the menstrual cycle.

Doula's recommend yoni steaming as a postpartum ritual; women are advised to wait until active bleeding has slowed down to a minimal amount. It is often recommended that women wait until 1-2 weeks after giving birth. At this safe stage; steaming encourages: warmth to the womb area after blood loss; blood circulation and tissue recovery; ritual closure, cleansing and grounding after birth.

WHEN IS IT NOT SAFE TO YONI STEAM?

Bleeding women should avoid yoni steaming until flow of blood has subsided; the bleeding phase of a woman's menstrual cycle is a time of shedding + clearing. Yoni steaming increases blood flow to the vaginal area + can alter your body's natural process of release.

Women who are actively trying to conceive should not yoni steam within 48 hours after ovulating.

It is advised that women under the age of 18 do not yoni steam, as the lactobacillus-dominant microbiome is still forming + soothing-care should not go further than gentle, external support (ie: a hot compress or bath are safe alternatives).

Pregnant women should not yoni steam unless otherwise prescribed by their doula.

**In elder traditions, yoni steaming was never rushed.

It was done with prayer, intention, song, silence, or storytelling, often passed down woman to woman. The steam was understood as a messenger, carrying plant wisdom into the womb space—not to fix her, but to listen to her.

I invite you to approach this ritual with reverence, attention to detail + a deep listening of what your body has been yearning for in the realm of nourishment.

Happy Steaming, Angels xx
